2024-2025 After School Skills Development Programs

Are you looking to support your autistic student’s learning and skill development?

We are excited to announce the After School Skills Development Program, which seeks to offer social skills learning opportunities for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) outside of the school day.

The program is made up of three individual clubs, each with a specific social skills focus and target age groups.

Program 1 – LEGO Club

The program will focus on learning the skills needed to play in a small social group format using LEGO.

For: students with ASD who are in Kindergarten to Grade 2 during the 2024-2025 school year and who the school team feels would benefit from and participate in social skills instruction.

Location: in-person in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Gravenhurst, Haliburton, Bracebridge, and Huntsville areas schools.

Length: one 60 minute group learning session every Tuesday at 5 to 6 p.m. January 28 to March 4.

Application deadline: the deadline to register was January 10, however, there are still some openings in the Haliburton and Muskoka area. If interested, please complete the Online Registration Form.

Program 2 – Robotics Club

The program will focus on learning the skills needed to play in a virtual group format with a robotics and coding focus.

For: students with ASD who are in Grade 4 to 12 during the 2024-2025 school year and who the school team feels would benefit from and participate in social skills instruction.

Location: virtual

Length: one 90 minute group learning session every Tuesday at 5:30 to 7 p.m. from February 4 to March 4.

Application deadline: if interested, please complete the Online Registration Form by Friday, January 24, at 4 p.m.

Program 3 – Board Game Club

The program will focus on learning the skills needed to play in a small social group format using board games.

For: students with ASD who are in Grade 3 to 5 during the 2024-2025 school year and who the school team feels would benefit from and participate in social skills instruction.

Location: in-person in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Gravenhurst, Haliburton, Bracebridge, and Huntsville areas schools.

Length: one 60 minute group learning session every Tuesday at 5 to 6 p.m. from April 8 to May 27.

Application deadline: if interested, please complete the Online Registration Form by Friday, February 28, at 4 p.m.
