Roots of Empathy

Starting back in October, and finishing the end of May, the JK/SK1 class was involved in Roots of Empathy.  Mrs. Burnie and her daughter Elsie visited the classroom about once a month when Elsie was 2 months to 8 months old.  As we gathered around the green blanket, the children learned about baby growth and development, emotional literacy, neuroscience, temperament traits, safety,  and of course empathy.  If only you could have seen the faces of the JK/SK1 class as they observed Elsie smile, coo, roll over and crawl!  Roots of Empathy’s mission is to build caring, peaceful and civil societies through the development of empathy.  Mrs. George was very pleased to be part of this wonderful program and looks forward to delivering the Roots of Empathy program next year at WES.
